China is one of the biggest countries in the world. Over 1 billion people live in China. The land mass is over 9.5 million square kilometers. It is a gigantic producer of different products that are later distributed over the whole world. In China the official language is Mandarin and there are many dialects of it.

A popular type of art in China from the times of the Chinese empire until now is making ceramics and painting it in different patterns and colors. The ceramics they created were things like vases , plates, cups, and exedra. These things were often very expensive and still are. There are many people that collect things like this because they are valuable and very pretty in look. Some of the patterns and colors represent something or tell a story. It's very popular to have dragons on the ceramics.

Another type of art well known in China is Chinese folk art. These are also called Chinese handcrafts. These are things like paper cuttings and basket weaving. Chinese handcrafts also include: Jade carving (Jade carving is carving in a stone called Jade), Making typical Chinese kites, Creating art from food, Puppetry, Shadow play, Textile arts, and also making Musical instruments. It also depends from region to region on how the Chinese make these things.
